About Julie:
Julie DeGuerre serves as the Event Specialist for The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Convention & Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to position The Woodlands as a regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized tourist destination by developing quality marketing programs and events to attract visitors and stimulate economic development and growth.
As Event Specialist, Ms. DeGuerre manages a number of festivals and event series for The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. Annual festivals she manages include the Red, Hot & Blue Festival™ with over 25,000 festival attendees and over 100,000 fireworks spectators in 2009, The Lighting of the Doves Festival™ and iWOW™ (International Winter On The Waterway) Festival with over 15,000 festival attendees in 2009, The Ice Rink™ at The Woodlands Town Center, which had a record breaking 2009-2010 season, as well as the twinkling holiday light display better known as Winter Wonderland™ with over 100,000 visitors during the 2009-2010 season. Ms. DeGuerre also manages several other Waterway Square events including the spring and fall “Live at Night” series, the summer and fall “Movie Night” series, the summer “Waterway Nights” series, “Trick or Treat Trail,” and the December mini-series “Caroling on the Square,” all scheduled during the 2010 calendar year.
The Event Specialist also spearheads The Convention & Visitors Bureau bi-monthly meeting series called “Connections.” This meeting series caters to merchants, restaurants and hotels located inside The Woodlands Township boundaries. Along with managing the events listed above Ms. DeGuerre is also responsible in helping market and publicize The Woodlands as a destination through The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau's initiatives.
Ms. DeGuerre is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, where she received her Bachelors of Communications in Advertising and Journalism. This 13-year Woodlands resident began working for The Woodlands Township as a college intern in 2006. After graduating from college she went on to work in sales management and training for a nationally recognized company and relocated on the west coast.
In addition to her role as Event Specialist for The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, Ms. DeGuerre serves as the Event Specialist for The Woodlands Township managing annual Public Safety Heroes Awards event.
