TOWN CENTER THEATRE PRESENTS
WORLD PREMIERE OF MERRY CHRISTMAS, GEORGE BAILEY

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- November 10, 2008 – Town Center Theatre, Montgomery County’s first professional theater company, will conclude its 2008 Season with the world premiere of Merry Christmas, George Bailey at Nancy Bock Auditorium (McCullough Junior High School), located at 3800 S. Panther Creek Drive, Dec. 5-7 and Dec. 19-21, 2008.

Based on the holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life starring James Stewart and Donna Reed, Merry Christmas, George Bailey tells the story of a man whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve gains the attention of his guardian angel, Clarence, who proceeds to show him what life would have been like if he had never been born.  Seeing the lives he has touched and the difference he has made in the community, George Bailey realizes that, despite his problems, he really has a wonderful life.  One of the most universally beloved films, It’s A Wonderful Life has been recognized by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 best American films ever made and placed number one on their list of the most inspirational American films of all time.

Adapted for the stage by TCT Artistic Directors Joseph Milillo and Chris Tennison, Merry Christmas, George Bailey will be presented as a 1940s-era radio program, with talented voice actors playing multiple roles and a foley artist providing sound effects live on stage.  “The story of It’s A Wonderful Life is so popular, it has been presented in many different formats: as a film, a short story, a stage play, even a Broadway musical,” said Tennison.  “We thought a radio version of this story would provide a unique, fresh perspective, and to see a radio program brought to life on stage will be a real treat for our audiences.”

Town Center Theatre hopes to make Merry Christmas, George Bailey an annual holiday tradition.  “We hope that by producing an annual holiday show, it comes a part of Montgomery County’s holiday culture; a tradition that families will share for years to come,” said Milillo.  “Merry Christmas, George Bailey is the beginning of such a tradition.”

Merry Christmas, George Bailey runs Dec. 5-7 and Dec. 19-21, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  Tickets are available at $25 for regular patrons, $20 for seniors age 55 and over; and $15 for students.  For groups of 10 or more, all tickets are $15.  To make your reservation, call (832) 592-9697, Ext. 2.
