The Woodlands Development Company Contributes to
the Montgomery County United Way

THE WOODLANDS, TX – (Monday, November 24, 2008) –Employees from The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC) and The Club at Carlton Woods contributed $36,540 to the Montgomery County United Way.  With an additional $20,000 corporate contribution, the total donation collected was $56,540, according to Tim Welbes, president of TWDC and 2008 United Way campaign chair.

TWDC was chosen as a “Pacesetter Company” for the 2009 United Way campaign, according to Welbes. A Pacesetter Company is defined by United Way as a leading employer that sets a positive and successful example for other businesses in Montgomery County to follow with their respective campaigns.

“The Woodlands Development Company was chosen as a Pacesetter Company because of its rich history of community support and volunteerism through its award-winning Good Neighbors Community Partnership Program,” Welbes said.  “We hope that through the good works of our employees and the generosity of our Good Neighbors Community Partnership Program, The Woodlands Development Company will be able to encourage other companies, organizations and individuals to contribute their time, talents and money to the United Way in 2009.”

Along with financial donations, TWDC staff members volunteer numerous hours with United Way agencies including the Meals on Wheels program from The Friendship Center, a non-profit organization serving seniors in Montgomery County.
The Woodlands is a 28,000-acre master-planned community located 27 miles north of downtown Houston.  It is a project of The Woodlands Development Company, a limited partnership of Morgan Stanley and General Growth Properties, Inc.
