The Ice RinkTM in The Woodlands, celebrating its 10th season, will be moving to Six Pines and The Woodlands Waterway, directly behind the Town Center Garage at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Parking for The Ice Rink will be at the Town Center Garage. The Ice Rink had been previously located at Lake Robbins Drive and Six Pines Drive but has moved based on new parking established at the prior location.

Along with new location for The Ice Rink, Donoho’s Jewellers Winter WonderlandTM was moved as well and lighting displays will be seen from The Woodlands Waterway and Six Pines Drive, according to Nick Wolda, President of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“We’re looking forward to bringing people to The Woodlands Waterway,” Wolda said. “We appreciate The Woodlands Development Company helping make this possible of bringing The Ice Rink near The Woodlands Waterway, which is a unique attraction in all of the Greater Houston area.”

With more than five million square feet of shopping, dining and entertainment space, The Woodlands has become a destination point for regional and international visitors. Part of the holiday experience this year will be riding a Water Taxi and The Woodlands Waterway Trolley to The Ice Rink.

“With all of these amenities together, The Woodlands is a destination set apart from other shopping, dining and entertainment districts in Southeast Texas region,” Wolda said.

The holidays come alive on Saturday, November 22, 2008 with the opening of the largest seasonal outdoor ice skating rink in the Southwest, a 100-foot-long snow hill, live entertainment including Hayes Carll and Grupo Batachá, spectacular fireworks, dancing, delicious food from all over the world and Santa Claus himself will all be a part of this year’s holiday festivities in The Woodlands Town Center.

The 26th Annual Lighting of the DovesTM, International Winter On The WaterwayTM (iWOW), The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center and Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland all officially take place on Saturday, November 22, 2008.

Additionally, other holiday events include the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at Market Street on November 20, 2008 and a Lighted Horse and Carriage Parade at Market Street on December 7, 2008 that will feature huge Clydesdales and petite miniature horses that will entertain crowds with their colorful holiday carriages as they spread holiday cheer. The Woodlands Mall will open at 6 a.m. on the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 28, 2008 to allow shoppers to get a jump start on their holiday shopping.
