The Woodlands, TX (October 2, 2008) – The Center for Houston’s Future recently conducted its Leadership Forum in The Woodl→ands Town Center at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.

The Forum consisted of two sessions beginning Thursday, September 4 and concluding on Sunday, September 6, 2008. The event was a success according to Jaymie Pedigo, the Director of Development for the Center for Houston’s Future. “The Woodlands was a great place for this type of setting. We received positive comments from our participants who were amazed at the outstanding development that has taken place in The Woodlands. The Waterway Cruise was very nice, and the food and service at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel was superb!”

The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau presented opening remarks on Friday and facilitated a water taxi ride for the Forum’s participants, which included stops at Town Green Park, the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and The Woodlands Mall.

The Center for Houston’s Future is a non-profit organization that innovates for Houston’s future through civic engagement and strategic planning.  They are a community-based organization whose critical role is to identify, inform, and engage business and civic leaders in issues that have an impact on the region’s future.  Their Leadership Forums only enhance their day-to-day operations by challenging participants to uncover and understand the complexities and connections of pressing civic issues in human capital development, diversity & inclusiveness, quality of life, and Houston’s 21st century economies.  Their program serves the entire Houston MSA, including Harris and the 10 surrounding counties.

The Leadership Forum guides participants to a new understanding and a new sense of personal accountability for the future of the Houston region.  The Forum process helps identify participants’ passions in civic issues and then engages them in long-term commitments to address these problems.  Every month and half, workshops are facilitated and small group “learning journeys” are held in between.
