The Economic Development Partnership announces new board members

The Woodlands, TX (September 2008)  The South Montgomery County Woodlands Economic Development Partnership (EDP) has announced the newly-appointed board members for its 2008-2009 term.

The new board members include Clyde Parker of Winstead P.C. as chair; Mike Karlins of Karlins & Ramey LLC as vice-chair; Chip VanSteenberg of City of Shenandoah as secretary; Karen Hoylman of South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce as treasurer; and Jonathan Homeyer of Wells Fargo as immediate past chair.

Other board members include Michael Barnhill of Entergy, Nelda Blair of The Woodlands Township, Robert Collins of Montgomery County Precinct 3, Sergio Grado of GradCo Structures and Homes, Kent Johnson of The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, Dan Leverett of The Woodlands Development Company, Nina Marino of Keller Williams, Greg Maxwell of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, Don T. The Economic Development Partnership is dedicated to promoting the economic development of South Montgomery County through the support of existing businesses and the recruitment of new businesses that can bring opportunities to the area.

“As we enter into our 11th year in business, we continue to enjoy the volunteer services of the leaders of the community,” said Ron Bourbeau, chief executive officer of the EDP.  “Over the years, our board has helped shape this organization so that we can continue to grow the number of jobs and the investment in our community to the level that it is today.”

The EDP serves as a gateway of information on topics ranging from demographics and population growth to incentives, labor market, and tax abatement policy, as well as informative profiles regarding the area’s infrastructure, workforce, and higher education institutions.

The South Montgomery County Woodlands Economic Development Partnership  (EDP) is the lead agency for business recruitment and retention for the South Montgomery area and includes the cities of Shenandoah and Oak Ridge North as well as the master planned community, The Woodlands.  The primary target for EDP clients are employers or potential employers that might want assistance in identifying potential sites for locating their business, or to determine their qualifications for incentives that might be available.  The EDP is also active in tracking workforce by industry cluster and also in helping The WorkSource and the Lone Star College System identify training needs within the clusters that are prevalent in the area.
