The 2008 Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala’s
Entertaining Program is Announced

THE WOODLANDS, TX – (Monday, September 8, 2008) – “The Stars at Night are Shining Bright, Deep In the Heart of The Woodlands” perfectly describes this year’s The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala. The premier event honors the “stars of the evening” the 2008 Hometown Heroes, and includes performances by the popular band Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, who has played at many corporate and private events including multiple Congressional and Inaugural Parties. News anchor Art Rascon from KTRK-TV 13 Eyewitness News, the Houston affiliate of ABC, will be the master of ceremonies.

“In keeping with the tradition of this wonderful event, the community will gather to pay tribute to the Hometown Heroes,” expressed Dr. Ann Snyder, Executive Director of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “Also, back by popular demand, the program will include personal videos of each 2008 recipient explaining the incredible role they have played in the community throughout the years.”

Additionally, Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes band, recently named one of the top ten party bands in the United States by Harper’s Bazaar magazine will not only capture the authentic sounds of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80's, but the look, feel and fun as well for the audience to enjoy.

The popular Austin group is a recognized major player in the performance industry providing the entertainment for numerous conventions including the Republican National Convention in 2004, corporate and private parties, and fund-raisers.

“The group is a favorite of President George W. Bush, and the band has played at his Christmas parties, The Congressional Ball in the East Room of the White House two years in a row, the President's Dinner with The Oak Ridge Boys and the 2005 Texas Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Party,” said Karen Hoylman, Honorary Chair of the event and President and CEO of The South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce.

Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes combine world-class vocals and musicianship, stunning costumes, precision choreography, and ‘blast from the past’ repertoire into a unique, dynamic and exciting show,” shared Snyder.

In addition, the evening will consist of an impressive silent auction. “The auction will provide an opportunity for people to place bids on fantastic items such as a trip to New York City, autographed poster of several Houston Rocket players, spa packages to local establishments, and much more,” said Snyder.

The Woodlands Gala will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.

All proceeds from the gala will help support Interfaith of The Woodlands’ Social Service programs.
