THE WOODLANDS, TX – (Monday, October 5, 2009) – “The Woodlands … Preserving and Pursuing a Green Community” perfectly described this year’s The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala where four individuals and one business were honored for their ongoing dedication to this community. Honored this year for their many contributions were Judé Compofelice, Heather Montgomery, Steve Sanders, Ted Washington and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
According to Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, “More than 740 individuals joined together to pay tribute to the 2009 Hometown Heroes and Michael Page, the recipient of the George Mitchell Award. Overall, the event was a complete success and I truly appreciate George and Catherine Lindahl for all their hard work.”
The enchanted evening also consisted of a memorable wall mural celebrating The Woodlands for the past 35 years.
“The interactive creation of a mural embracing the important events of The Woodlands for the past 35 years was a huge hit with the guests,” said Dr. Snyder. “Many attendees shared their favorite memory as the artist created an everlasting timeline of The Woodlands.”
In accordance with the theme of a “green community”, the evening also featured an impressive “green” raffle item- a Green Mini Cooper Clubman donated by the honorary chairs. The proceeds from the raffle, bid boards, live and silent auction will be used to fund the many Programs and Services of Interfaith of The Woodlands.
“Interfaith of The Woodlands is grateful to be the beneficiary of this wonderful event,” said Snyder. “Thanks to our sponsors and the support of the community, we will be able to continue to serve our neighbors in need.”
Major underwriters for the event were: Visionary ($30,000) sponsors Huntsman Corporation and George and Catherine Lindahl. Architect ($25,000) sponsor The Woodlands Development Company. Connector ($10,000) sponsors are Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Jim and Nelda Blair, Brian and Lorri Petrauskas, TATTU Jeans, and Woodforest National Bank.
