THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS – The Woodlands Rotary Club will present its 1st annual Oktoberfest on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, in Town Green Park. This beautiful park is along The Waterway and adjacent to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
All proceeds from Oktoberfest will go directly to The Woodlands Rotary Club Foundation, a 501c(3) organization, to raise funds for local students’ scholarships. More than 30 business leaders from within the community who are members of The Woodlands Rotary Club are working together to make Oktoberfest 2009 the very best event that The Woodlands has ever hosted.
The event will attract festival-goers from around the area, many dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes. Oktoberfest has the full support of the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, and other civic and governmental agencies.
"The success of the Tomball German Heritage Festival, held in late March, highlights the attractive nature and spirit of the German heritage in our area. Our Oktoberfest will exemplify the true spirit of the traditional fall harvest festivals in Germany. There will be something fun to do for all ages," says Bob Schucker, The Woodlands Rotary Club’s President and Oktoberfest chairperson.
Major sponsors are Silver Eagle Distributors, The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau, The City of Shenandoah, and Ruth Lavada Vernier, Attorney--as well as many other community organizations that have stepped up to participate in this exciting event.
This premier family-oriented two-day Oktoberfest event will feature music from German bands as well as authentic German food. Oktoberfest Bavarian souvenirs will also be for sale in the festival's craft vendor fair.
