THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (August 26, 2009) – The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau (TWCVB) is pleased to announce that Kent Johnson has joined TWCVB Board of Directors.
As a member of the board, he will be responsible for assisting The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau in positioning The Woodlands as a regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized tourist destination by developing quality marketing programs and events to attract visitors and stimulate economic development and growth.
Mr. Johnson relocated to The Woodlands in May of 2005 to manage The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center in the capacity of General Manager. His professional achievements include opening or managing hotels in Aruba, Grand Cayman, Key West, Seattle, San Diego, Maui, Lanai and Key Largo. He opened both the Manele Bay Hotel and The Lodge at Koele on the Island of Lanai; two Five Star Five Diamond Resorts ranked the #1 and #4 Resorts in the world by CondeNast Traveler.

Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Hawaii, and has earned advanced certifications from Cornell University and The Culinary Institute of America. Johnson has national or local ties to The Chaine des Rotisseurs, Rotary, Meeting Planners International, Certified Catering Executives of America, Certified Food & Beverage Professionals of America and IACC.
TWCVB is a 501 (c) (6) organization that drives demand for The Woodlands as a travel destination, creates new revenue for businesses, and increases sales and hotel occupancy tax for The Woodlands Township's general fund.
