Super Summer Sign Up at the YMCA Begins April 18th
Summer at the YMCA is FUN for Everyone!

 

Even though the first day of summer vacation is more than 7 weeks away, the South Montgomery County YMCA is gearing up for a fun filled summer. Beginning April 18th on Super Summer Sign Up Day, registration is available for all YMCA Summer Programs including Y Day Camp, Y Youth Sports, Y Swim Lessons, Y Child Care, Sports Clinics, Y Teen Camp, Performing Arts and much more. Hurry in . . . early sessions fill up quickly.

Celebrating Super Summer Sign Up Day, a free and unique gift will be handed out with each summer program registration on April 18th, 2009.

All YMCA programs promote healthy spirits, minds and bodies and consistently teach Judeo-Christian principles. The Y is a special place where each participant learns values that last a lifetime. Guided by the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith, character development is integral to all YMCA programs. Available to all in the community, the YMCA strives to not turn anyone away because of an inability to pay. Limited financial assistance is available to families that substantiate a need.

Y Day Camp programs are packed with activities that fill summer days and enables a child to have a summer camp experience while returning home at the end of the day. A variety of age specific camps will be available this summer for youth ages 5 – 11 years. Offered in 1 week sessions, the first session begins June 8th. Camp Hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm with Pre and Post Camp Supervision available 7:00 – 9:00am and 4:00 – 6:30pm.

Y Teen Camp is designed with the interests of older youth in mind. The summer is comprised of day trips to parks and special attractions in and around the Houston area along with leadership skill development, core values and an ethic of service through community service projects. Teen Camp is available for ages 12 – 15. Space is limited. One week sessions begin June 8th. Camp Hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm with Pre and Post Camp Supervision available 7:00 – 9:00am and 4:00 – 6:30pm

Y Youth Sports program is designed so that each athlete is guaranteed to play 50% of every game regardless of their skill level. The summer program will include basketball, T-Ball/Baseball and volleyball for ages 3 – 13. Registration Dates are April 18 – June 10.

Summer Sports Clinics will return this summer providing kids, ages 3 – 13, the opportunity to learn new skills and improve current skills. Each session is unique and dynamic with a different sport and drills introduced weekly. The first weekly sessions begin June 8th. Most Sports Clinic sessions run 3 hours daily, Monday, Thursday. Camps include Cheerleading, Baseball, Golf, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Jump Rope, Tiny Tots Soccer, Basketball and T-Ball.

Y Swim Lessons: Learning to swim at the YMCA is more than just stroke development! The YMCA, America’s favorite swim instructor, offers a variety of morning and evening classes for ALL levels and ALL ages including Parent/Child, Pre-School and School-Age. Offered in 2 week sessions, the first summer session begins June 8th! Other aquatic programs available include competitive stroke booster class, youth swim team and scuba.

Performing Arts: The summer program is comprised of 5 unique weekly workshops, Monday – Friday, 1:30 – 4:15pm for students K – 12th grade. Each workshop will focus on a different musical production, Peter pan, Wizard of Oz and High School Musical 1, 2 & 3. The first session begins June 15th.

Ballet: Students, ages 2 – 8, will learn the basics of ballet. Weekday afternoon and Saturday morning classes will be available. Times will vary depending on age group. The summer session will run June 6 – August 1.

Summer at the YMCA is not just for Kids, The YMCA offers FUN for everyone including Mom and Dad so the family can do more together! A YMCA membership provides many opportunities for families to play and work out together having fun and maintaining a healthy lifestyle: Splashing and swimming together in our pools and water park; climbing together and reaching new heights in our indoor climbing center; playing a variety of sports and developing new skills on our fields and in our gyms; working out side by side in our family fitness classes; or just relaxing and having fun at our monthly family events and meeting new friends. The YMCA is a great place to get connected! A YMCA Family Facility Membership is a great value with 1 membership but membership privileges at any YMCA in the Greater Houston Area including 2 locations in The Woodlands, and in nearby communities of Conroe, Kingwood and Tomball. With all of these options, your member benefits include more than 185 group fitness classes offered weekly, year round swimming, fitness assessments, Y Child Watch while you work out, FitLinxx, lower fees on most YMCA programs and so much more.
