The Woodlands, Texas (Friday, April 24, 2009) Lined up outside the office of Copperwood Apartments were more than 30 excited and grateful senior adults on Wednesday April 15, 2009, waiting for groceries from Interfaith of The Woodlands.
As part of a new program called “Interfaith’s Senior Grocery Delivery Program” home-bound seniors living at Copperwood and Harvestwood Senior Complexes are delivered perishable and non-perishable food once a month.
Cora Norman, a senior living at the complex and unable to drive to the store, explained that this program gives her a chance to visit with friends and a chance to receive “a balanced group of groceries”.
All seniors that participate in the program receive a couple of grocery bags “stuffed to the rim” with non-perishable food and a bag full of fresh fruit and vegetables.
“This program is another way Interfaith reaches out to help our community,” shared Debbie Repka, Director of Interfaith of The Woodlands Senior Services. “While the program is currently small, I hope the program will expand to assist numerous home-bound seniors.”
All applicants must qualify and apply for the assistance.
