TOWN CENTER THEATRE, WOODLANDS CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
ANNOUNCE NEXT CHILDREN’S ACTING CLASS

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – February 2, 2009 – Following the success of the Simply Shakespeare acting class, Town Center Theatre and The Woodlands Children’s Museum announced today their next acting class. The course is entitled Acting 101, a basic class in theatre that will be open to children ages 6 to 12 and will be taught on Saturday mornings at The Woodlands Children’s Museum, located at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive in The Woodlands Mall.

“The purpose of this course is to give students an introduction to the basic theatre ‘essentials,’” said Town Center Theatre Artistic Director Chris Tennison. “The students will be exposed to such elements as mime skills, breathing and movement techniques, improvisation and basic theatre etiquette – all designed to provide students with a well-rounded theatre education that they can utilize in their future artistic efforts.”

The first class will begin on Saturday, March 7, 2009, from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be six classes per course, with the final class and performance taking place on April 18, 2009. Instruction will be provided by professional actors and educators who have worked with Town Center Theatre and other professional theatres in the Houston area. “This is a great class for beginners, as well as those with some experience who want a refresher course,” Tennison said.

Parents interested in registering for the course can contact either The Woodlands Children’s Museum at (281) 465-0955 or Town Center Theatre at (832) 592-9697. The registration fee is $200 per child and includes 12 hours of instruction and all course materials and services. For parents who are members of The Woodlands Children's Museum, the fee is $170.
