THE WOODLANDS, Texas – June 5, 2009 – Town Center Theatre, Montgomery County’s first professional theater company, announced today that it will be restructuring its season lineup for 2009-2010. As part of this restructuring, TCT will be suspending its summer musical this year (originally scheduled to be Nunsense!) and will resume productions later in the fall.
“Like many other organizations who rely on donations and gifts to continue operations, we have been adversely impacted by the current state of the economy,” said Artistic Director Chris Tennison. “Given the costs associated with producing the quality work our patrons have come to expect from us, we will be selling tickets on a per-show basis rather than seasonally. It was not an easy decision to make but one that will ensure we can remain financially stable in these difficult times.”
Tennison emphasized, however, that despite this season restructuring, Town Center Theatre will remain operational and is not closing its doors. Currently, the organization is looking for ways to continue offering programming over the course of the next few months.
“We will eventually be announcing a cabaret and dinner series, as well as providing information on our efforts to acquire our own performance space, which will allow us to expand our offerings even further,” said Artistic Director Joseph Milillo. “In addition, we will continue to provide acting classes for the youth of Montgomery County, which we hope to eventually expand into courses for high school students and adults.”
