The Woodlands, TX – The Floating Art Parade gets underway at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival on April 4, in conjunction with the opening day of the festival. The parade features floating art pieces created and designed by local businesses and organizations. The floats parade down The Waterway from Town Green Park to The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and then parade back towards Town Green Park. The floats remain moored for public viewing throughout the festival.
Participants are asked to design and create a float reflecting this year’s theme “Outer Space.” The best entry receives The Waterway Cup, a unique piece of art designed by one of the festival artists. Festival jurors vote for the best entry.
“The Floating Art Parade is a great way to gain visibility, plus the teams have lots of fun,” said Brenda Gottlieb, festival director. "Last year we had 10 terrific floats in the parade from various community businesses and organizations.”
The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival features more than 200 national and regional artists of various mediums selling their original creations. Last year approximately 15,000 people attended the two-day festival which takes place along The Woodlands Waterway® from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel alongside The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and culminating at Town Green Park. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
