The Floating Art Parade is Out of This World
The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival Floating Art Parade Launches April 4 with “Outer Space” Theme

The Woodlands, TX – The Floating Art Parade gets underway at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival on April 4, in conjunction with the opening day of the festival with nine organizations and businesses participating in the parade.

This year’s participants are The Woodlands Development Company, The Woodlands Convention and Visitor's Bureau, The Pavilion Partners, John Cooper School National Art Honor Society, Houston Museum of Science XPLORATION Station, Town Center Theatre, Hubbell & Hudson, Conroe YMCA, and last year's winner, The Woodlands Art League. Dana Tyson with KODA radio is the emcee of the event.

The floats parade down The Waterway from Town Green Park to the Marriott and then parade back towards Town Green Park. The floats are pulled by boats staffed by The Woodlands Parks and Recreation department and are then secured for viewing by the parade judges. The Floating Art Parade judges are Denise Leibl, artist, Michael Huffine, executive producer of Silver Rock Productions, and Judge Edie Connelly. The best entry receives The Waterway Cup, a original creation by one of our festival artists, Paul Uhl from Smithville, Texas. The floats remain moored for public viewing throughout the festival.

“The Floating Art Parade is one of the most colorful and exciting events in the community that everyone can enjoy. We have nine incredible entries in this year's parade that kick off the fourth annual festival on Sat., April 5 at 10:30 a.m. We have entries from local companies and businesses as well as non-profit organizations. This year's theme is ‘Outer Space’ and we are anticipating lots of imaginative entries, “said Brenda Gottlieb, festival director.

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival features more than 200 national and regional artists of various mediums selling their original creations. Last year approximately 15,000 people attended the two-day festival which takes place along The Woodlands Waterway® from The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel alongside The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and culminating at Town Green Park. Festival hours are 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
