The first piece of fabric was installed Monday for the new roof structure that will cover the reserved seating area of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. The enormous pieces of fabric were made in Sri Lanka and arrived at The Pavilion last week. Thirteen pieces of fabric will be assembled on-site, creating the new roof structure. Designed by the original architect of The Pavilion, Horst Berger, the new canopy will feature six peaks and have the same signature look as the old roof structure, destroyed during Hurricane Ike nearly six months ago. The roof is part of a $9.5 million renovation project that will be completed in late April prior to the venue's first concert on May 1 featuring the Dave Matthews Band. |
