THE WOODLANDS, TX – (Wednesday, May 13, 2009) – Karen West (left), Vice President and General Counsel for The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC) and Chair of the Lone Star College Foundation Board, recently presented a $5,000 sponsorship, on behalf of the company, to the Lone Star College Foundation’s “StarGala 2009 Summer in the City” event. Accepting the donation are Dr. Richard Carpenter (center), Chancellor of the Lone Star College System, and Darcy Mingoia (right), Executive Director of the Lone Star College Foundation.
“Through our Good Neighbors Community Partnership Program, The Woodlands Development Company is proud to have supported the Lone Star College Foundation’s Gala over the past five years as well as The Foundation’s Golf Tournament,” West said. “The primary mission of The Foundation is to raise money to support programs, students and faculty of the Lone Star College System.”
The “StarGala 2009 Summer in the City”, benefiting The Foundation, is set for Saturday, May 30, 2009 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, beginning at 6:30 pm. Lone Star College System was recently ranked #1 as the “Largest Houston-Area Colleges and Universities” by the Houston Business Journal in its April 24 - 30, 2009 publication. The 2008 fall enrollment was listed as 54,691.
