THE WOODLANDS, TX – (Friday, May 22, 2009) - Debra Staley (right), director of public affairs for The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC), and Liz Stacy (left), legal assistant for TWDC, recently presented a $5,000 donation on behalf of the company to The Friendship Center. Nancy Harrington (second from right), president of The Friendship Center, and Bev Earl (second from the left), board member of the non-profit organization, accepted the annual gift.
“Through our Good Neighbors Community Partnership Program, The Woodlands Development Company is proud to have supported The Friendship Center since its inception,” Staley said. “Employees from our company have volunteered to assist The Friendship Center’s Meals-On-Wheels program for nearly 10 years. Liz Stacy coordinates the volunteer efforts for our company.”
The Friendship Center delivers over 800 meals each week to homebound seniors or through the senior dining program at one of the six Activity Centers throughout Montgomery County.
“The Woodlands Development Company is the kind of community partner that really understands all of the needs of a program such as Meals-On-Wheels,” Harrington said. “They understand the importance of the financial support in purchasing food and other needed supplies to operate the program, but they also understand the value that their personal contact adds to the project. The meal delivery volunteer may be the only face that this homebound senior sees that day or that week.” Along with the Meals-On-Wheels program, The Friendship Center offers a variety of programs as well as transportation for seniors 60 years and older.
