Get your clubs ready! The 2nd Annual Woodlands Golf Championship and Community Scramble, benefiting Interfaith of The Woodlands, swung into action on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Champions Bench located in Market Street. Several local community leaders joined PGA Tour Professional Roland Thatcher, Honorary Chair, and members of the The Woodlands Golf Championship Committee to kick-off the upcoming event.
The 2011 Woodlands Golf Championship will feature 96 Amateur players competing in a 36-hole stroke play competition to win the second Woodlands Golf Championship Title. All Amateur players will compete on Monday, June 27, 2011 and Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at both the Tournament Course of The Woodlands Country Club and the Fazio Course of The Club at Carlton Woods.
Each amateur player must qualify and either live or work in The Woodlands or belong to Carlton Woods, The Woodlands, or Canongate Golf Clubs. The field consists of different divisions comprised of post high school age and older participants.
The Woodlands Golf Championship will also offer an opportunity for the entire community to participate in a four personScramble. The teams will compete on Monday, June 27, 2011 at The Woodlands Country Club Palmer Course.
“This is an opportunity for many participants to play at a local course, have fun and raise funds for a worthwhile charity in this area,” said Bev Earl, chair of The Woodlands Golf Championship Committee.
According to Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, “Interfaith is thrilled and honored to be the beneficiary of the golf tournament. All the proceeds will benefit Interfaith’s many programs and services.”
The Woodlands Golf Championship has already attracted several players interested in participating in the tournament.
