NOW PREMIERING… THE WOODLANDS AREA FILM COMMISSION WEBSITE

The Woodlands, TX - Residents and industry professionals alike will enjoy browsing The Woodlands Area Film Commission’s new website at www.TheWoodlandsAreaFilmCommission.com.  The Film Commission was created in 2009 as a department within The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce with support from The Woodlands Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.  Since its inception, the Film Commission has steadily increased exposure of The Woodlands as a potential site for film production with the purpose of bringing film production dollars into the local economy.  Depending on the size of the production, income for the local community may be generated from location fees, construction costs, fuel, groceries, props, security services, hotels, catering and an increase in sales tax revenue. The Film Commission assists throughout the production process including finding locations, crew members and housing and is the liaison between production teams and the community to ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

The Woodlands Film Commission acts as an economic development tool by working to attract new business and grow the media industry in the local area. This includes the production of motion pictures, television, commercials, corporate videos, music videos, documentaries, animation, video effects, video and computer games as well as still photography.  The website greatly increases the ability to reach a national and international audience and link our resources to the Houston and Texas Film Commissions.

The website features a Film Industry tab, includes opportunities on local [production jobs, internships, and casting as well as  links to other Texas resources for film professionals.  For local residents and businesses who would like to get involved, possibly have a project pay to use their property or participate as an extra on the set, the FAQ section on the website details how to submit a property for consideration along with the answers to commonly asked questions about a Film Commission.

The Woodlands has hosted projects for Television Sitcoms, Regional Banks, Channel 13, The Houston Rockets PowerDancers, Golfsmith, and A&E Biography.  Proximity to an International airport, a wide variety of locations in close proximity and an assortment of hotels, restaurants and shopping options make The Woodlands area a perfect location for film production.

The Woodlands is a CERTIFIED FILM FRIENDLY TEXAS Community and proudly offers Texas hospitality.  The Woodlands Area Film Commission is dedicated to going the extra mile for our guests and business associates.  After shooting a Homeland Security Training Film in our area, the Producer with Good Egg Media, Inc., Erin McCahill said,  “Thank you once again for letting us film in The Woodlands, it truly is an ideal location and a bit of a one-stop shop for everything we were looking for.”  The Film Commission hopes you will share this sentiment after reviewing the new website!
