THE WOODLANDS WATERWAY ARTS FESTIVAL SET FOR APRIL 9 & 10
Over 200 Fine Artists Featured; Tickets Now Available Online

The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, a Showcase of the Visual and Performing Arts, is set for Saturday, April 9 from 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday, April 10 from 10 am – 6 pm. Now in its sixth year, the festival features the original creations of over 200 national, regional and international fine artists in a wide variety of mediums artfully displayed along The Woodlands Waterway® and in Town Green Park in The Woodlands Town Center.

Live music and entertainment, "Artopoly" children's arts and craft activities, and a Student Art Exhibit are added attractions. The Palette Café in Town Green Park will offer cuisine from Jasper's and Russo's New York Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen along with a large selection of beer and wine. Other culinary specialties will be located throughout the festival site.

Admission is $10 for adults or $15 for a weekend pass. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased online at www.woodlandsartsfestival.com and at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion box office, located on Lake Robbins Drive.

"There's something for everyone at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival," said Jenny Wright, Festival Director. "From one of the country's most impressive selections of fine art, to educational arts activities for children and teens, our festival has it all. We encourage everyone to spend a beautiful spring weekend strolling The Waterway and discovering the magic of art and culture in The Woodlands."

A free concert at The Palette Café in Town Green Park, featuring the African rhythms of the five-member group D.R.U.M. (Divine Rhythm United Motion) will take place from 7 – 9 pm. Gates will open at 6:30 pm for the concert, and artists have been invited to remain open during that time.

Local teens are invited to participate in a free special event taking place at the festival in conjunction with the Above the Influence (ATI) youth campaign, a program of the White House Office of National Drug Control. The mission of ATI is to help youth create their own vision of what it means to be Above the Influence of drugs, and to spread this message throughout their communities across the country.

Highlighting ATI's mission will be a free concert by Urgeworks, a teen panel discussion, and the unveiling of a mural created by Houston-area program participants on Saturday, April 9 from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at Waterway Square in The Woodlands Town Center. A second mural will be created by Montgomery County youths at Town Green Park during the festival and displayed at The Woodlands Mall when it is completed.

Sidewalk artists will also be creating a colorful display in Waterway Square during the festival.
