THE WOODLANDS WATERWAY MARRIOTT HOTEL & CONVENTION CENTER CLEANS, CONSERVES AND CELEBRATES ON EARTH DAY—AND EVERY DAY!

In response to Marriott International’s award-winning commitment to environmental conservation initiatives, associates of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center will do their part to positively impact the community this Earth Day, Saturday, April 22.

Saturday morning, approximately two dozen Marriott associates will be “working” at the Montgomery County Library on Grogan’s Mill Road (at Lake Robbins Dr.) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. to clean up and conduct beautification efforts at the property. This local public service project is designed to demonstrate, affirm and promote Marriott’s long-standing desire to contribute to the quality of life in the communities in which it operates, for the benefit of company associates and guests, as well as area residents.

“The Woodlands Waterway Marriott is proud to be part of a community that is recognized across the nation and around the globe for its commitment to preserving natural beauty,” states Kathy Mouw, Marriott’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are privileged to uphold the community’s high standards and participate in Earth Day activities that inform, educate and ultimately, impact our world for present and future generations. Our Marriott associates are pleased to have the opportunity each to do our part toward recycling and improving air quality, water and energy conservation on Earth Day and every day.”

Marriott International’s commitment to the environment has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which named the company an ENERGY STAR "Partner of the Year" for two consecutive years and also awarded its coveted Energy Star label to 183 Marriott-branded hotels. Specifically, Marriott was recognized for saving more than 83 million kilowatt-hours (kwh) of electric energy consumption—the equivalent of lighting Washington, D.C., for three months; and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 68,000 tons annually—the equivalent of removing 15,000 cars from the road or planting 1,500,000 trees per year.
