THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- April 24, 2008 – Town Center Theatre, Montgomery County’s first professional theater company, announced today that it will be partnering with the Montgomery County Library System to hold a book drive during performances of its 2008 season opener All In The Timing, which runs May 2–18, 2008 at Nancy Bock Auditorium (McCullough Junior High School).
“All In The Timing is a wonderful comedy that puts an emphasis on wordplay, language and communication, so in the spirit of the production, holding a book drive is a perfect way for our patrons to help area libraries continue to foster a love of the written word among readers – young and old,” said Managing Director Aaron Stryk.
Audience members who make a donation by bringing one book or more with them to the performance will be given one complimentary ticket to All In The Timing (limit one ticket per donation). While the donated books must be new (no used books), all genres are acceptable, including fiction, non-fiction, children and adults. “It’s a part of our mission to use theater to enrich the community around us, and these donations are a wonderful opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on one of our most valuable county institutions,” Stryk said.
Winner of the John Gassner Playwriting Award, All In The Timing presents six one-acts that are short, comedic and sometimes absurd, with frequent wordplay. Scenes include an awkward meeting between two people in a café whose interaction is continually reset each time one of them says the wrong thing; a man and a woman who fall in love while communicating in an invented language; and three monkeys attempting to type Hamlet, all the while discussing the merits of literature. Known for its brevity and wit, the show has been a very popular choice with theatre patrons.
All In The Timing runs from May 2 through May 18, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at $25 for regular patrons and $20 for students and seniors age 55 or over; discounts are available for subscribers and groups of 10 or more. For tickets, call (832) 592-9697.
