US ONCOLOGY UNVEILS PLAN TO BUILD NEW
CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN THE WOODLANDS
Significant Business and Employee Growth Contributes to
Need for New Corporate Headquarters
Houston-based US Oncology, service provider to one of the nation’s largest cancer treatment and research networks, has announced plans to relocate to a new corporate campus in The Woodlands. It is expected to open its doors to employees in early 2009. The company, named to FORTUNE Magazine’s Most Admired Companies list for 2007 and the Houston Chronicle’s Top 10 Private Companies list, has experienced substantial growth in recent years, demonstrated by the addition of several new businesses and services, and a 58 percent increase in corporate employees since 2003.
“In the past four years, we’ve experienced tremendous growth at US Oncology in the expansion of our service offering to the oncology community and in the number of employees to support those businesses,” said Bruce Broussard, president of US Oncology. “Our new corporate facility will provide the needed room for our continued growth, as well as create a state-of-the-art work environment for our employees.”
The new headquarters will also create a more favorable and efficient work environment by providing a central location for many of the Houston-based employees, who are currently dispersed among three buildings. It will provide “Class A” facilities and increased supporting amenities, such as an improved location and greater access to a variety of upscale shopping, dining, cultural and entertainment venues along The Woodlands Waterway® in The Woodlands Town Center.
US Oncology will be the sole tenant of the structure and it will be built to meet its specific needs. The new headquarters will be an 8-story, 200,000-square-foot building adjacent to a parking structure with covered walkway. The company plans to include a food establishment on the ground floor, natural surroundings including plant life and water elements, in addition to improved security with limited building access. The corporate campus will be linked to Waterway Square by a unique, landscaped pedestrian corridor providing both easy access and views of The Woodlands Waterway.
”The addition of US Oncology continues to validate The Woodlands Town Center as a premier location for corporate headquarters,” said Dan Leverett, vice president, commercial for The Woodlands Development Company. “Employers are finding that it is easier to retain and recruit talented employees when there is the opportunity to live, work, play and learn in the same community. The Woodlands offers excellence in education, a wide variety of homes, and an enhanced quality of life that is very appealing to those who want to balance their personal and professional lives.”
The Woodlands is the fastest growing community in Texas since 1990 and is a prime location for US Oncology’s new headquarters, offering a desirable and diverse residential area to support a growing workforce. It is an award-winning community that enjoys a low crime rate and consistently demonstrates its ability and commitment to support local employers and their employees. With US Oncology, The Woodlands business community will include 12 corporate citizens over 100,000 sf.
