More education activities and events added for 2006

From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 on Saturday, August 19, The Woodlands Mall kicks off It’s Kids Time Xtreme™ mall tour, a day filled with free family fun including prizes, interactive games, live music concerts, giveaways and clinics focused on sports, nutrition and safety.

The afternoon is designed for families with children from seven to 16, promoting education, safety and nutrition in formats that are fun and interactive.

New for 2006, It’s Kids Time Xtreme is introducing a Jr. Makeover Area and a Jr. Talent Search competition co-promoted with Sam Goody and Musicland.

Also premiering at the 2006 event is RadioShack’s demonstrations of cellular phones and MP3 players, designed to keep families connected. RadioShack will also have child safety tips and fingerprinting through its StreetSentz program.

Two of the most popular events are back. In the Arcade Alley sponsored by Gamestop and EB Games, visitors can check out all the hottest new games. Tyco remote control vehicles are back in the lineup featuring races all afternoon.

Additional afternoon fun includes:

Spelling bee,
Trivia contests,
Sports clinics,
Trading card zones sponsored by Don Russ and Topps,
AOL’s KOL kids service where visistors can experience spy missions and cartoons,
Interactive kiosks from 2K Sports,
Games from Sports Illustrated For Kids,
Yu-Gi-Oh! interactive zone with trading card duels,
Constructive building areas, and
Treasure chest prizes and Lemonhead candy, while supplies last.

“Last year, It’s Kids Time Xtreme™ entertained children and their parents for hours. Everything is designed to be good, wholesome fun that’s educational, too,” said Kristi Resendez, marketing manager for The Woodlands Mall. “The timing is excellent, too – it’s still hot out and we can entertain everyone for the afternoon in the cool comfort of the shopping center. Plus, before or after the fun, families can pop up to the Food Court or out to one of our restaurants and enjoy a meal together.”
