TV Veteran & Resident of The Woodlands, Lisa Trapani Shumate, To Serve as Master of Ceremonies at The Woodlands’ Gala
The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala benefits Interfaith of The Woodlands.
Lisa Trapani Shumate, an Emmy award winning veteran of the television industry, has agreed to serve as master of ceremonies for The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala, honoring the 2006 Hometown Heroes, according to CJ Haynes, Gala Chair.
The Celebration of Excellence Gala is scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in The Woodlands Town Center. The event benefits Interfaith of The Woodlands, a primary social services organization in The Woodlands that has served Montgomery County families for over 32 years.
Lisa began her television career in New Orleans where she held such positions as associate producer for PM Magazine at WWL-TV and news reporter and television anchor at WWL-TV. In 1992, she joined KTRK-TV, the local ABC-owned television station, as co-host and producer of “Good Morning Houston”. She also produced entertainment and news specials for KTRK-TV including a program devoted to prenatal care, which led her to receiving a national award, “The Gracie”, from the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT). Lisa is also the recipient of a regional Emmy, an award presented by the Associated Press and the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA).
Lisa moved to the marketing industry of television at KTRK-TV in the mid-1990’s. She created station partnerships with the Houston Texans and the Houston Marathon. Her marketing credentials also include working in Dallas with Belo Marketing Solutions, a specialized unit of Belo Corporation that represents all of its Texas properties in statewide partnerships. Currently, Lisa is marketing manager for KHOU-TV, a local CBS affiliate owned by Belo Broadcasting. She is responsible for sponsor-driven programs such as “Great Day Houston” as well as customer-driven, multi-media campaigns.
Lisa and her husband Chris Shumate live in The Woodlands and have two children -- William, a recent graduate of Texas Christian University and 2 nd Lieutenant in the United States Army, and Caroline an 8 th grader and band member at McCullough Junior High School.
