PLANS FOR GRAND OPENING OF THE VILLAGE OF CREEKSIDE PARK ANNOUNCED

Plans are underway for celebration of the Grand Opening of the new Village of Creekside Park this October. Plans include two Showcase of Homes events – one in the gated community of Carlton Woods Creekside and another in the neighborhood of Wilde Creek, located near the main entrance to the village off Gosling Road. A free, family-oriented outdoor festival on Saturday, October 20, 2007 is another Grand Opening attraction, according to Tim Welbes, president of The Woodlands Development Company.

The Showcase of Homes in Carlton Woods Creekside is set for Saturday, October 13 through Sunday, October 28 from 10-6 pm daily. Six lavishly furnished and decorated homes, priced from $1.3 - $2.7 million, will be open for touring. Admission for adults is $5, and children 12 and under are admitted free. A portion of the proceeds will benefit New Danville and Interfaith of The Woodlands. Builders include Savoy Custom Homes, Termeer and Associates, Sterling Classic Homes and Ultra Classic Custom Homes.

“We encourage everyone to come to the Grand Opening of Creekside Park to discover the wide variety of new homes, outstanding parks, lakes and outdoor amenities in The Woodlands’ newest village,” said Welbes. “We are extremely proud of the development plans for the new village and how well they are coming to fruition. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Rob Fleming Park, the George Mitchell Nature Preserve, and the new neighborhoods of Carlton Woods Creekside and Wilde Creek.”

One of the main Grand Opening attractions will be a huge family-oriented festival on Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 10 am – 6 pm in the new Rob Fleming Park. Open free to the public, the event will highlight the many new outdoor amenities that will soon be available in Creekside Park. Tethered hot air balloon rides, rock climbing walls, kayaking and fishing lessons and a Mini-Sailboat Regatta on Fleming Pond will be featured. “Camp Creekside for Kids” will include children’s crafts, a petting zoo, face painting, planting seeds in the Fleming Park “Bluebonnet Meadow” and other fun activities dedicated to nature and the great outdoors.

Rob Fleming Lodge will be the setting for a free outdoor concert called “Music from Kerrville – an Outdoor Family Experience” from 3-6 pm. The concert stars Michael Martin Murphey and the Heartland Cowboys, Floyd Domino and the Western Swing All-Stars with special guest mandolin virtuoso, Paul Glasse, and the Terri Hendrix Quartet. “Music from Kerrville-An Outdoor Family Experience” is being produced by Rod Kennedy, founder of the Kerrville Folk Festival.

Also on Saturday, October 20, the Showcase of Homes in Wilde Creek will begin and run through Sunday, October 28 from 10 am – 6 pm daily. Admission is free. 15 decorated model homes will be open for touring, priced from the $200’s - $700’s. Builders include Chesmar Homes, Darling Homes, Highland Homes, Plantation Homes, Trendmaker Homes, Village Builders, David Weekley Homes and Wilshire Homes.

After the concert and family festival conclude at 6 pm on October 20, the First Annual Great Creekside Campout will begin with registration at 6:00 pm and the Campout starting at 6:30 pm. Tent and equipment packages along with catered dinner and movie packages will be available for purchase to make camping easy, even for beginners. The camp-in movie, “The Great Outdoors” starring John Candy, will be shown on a giant screen in the park. S’mores making by the “campfire”, star gazing, night games and a night hike through the George Mitchell Nature Preserve will be other highlights of this evening of reconnecting with nature. For advanced Campout registration, call The Community Associations of The Woodlands Parks & Recreation at 281-210-3900.
