Williams-Sonoma at The Woodlands Mall presents free technique classes
in september and october Cooking class schedule announced for Mondays during the fall

The Woodlands, Texas. August 24, 2007 ~ This fall, the Williams-Sonoma at The Woodlands Mall offers complimentary technique classes on select Sundays. Each class will last for one hour and will focus on a specific culinary topic, including basic cutlery skills to outdoor grilling.

Following are the days and subjects for the free September and October classes. Schedule includes:

  • Sunday, September 9:Basics of Fresh Pasta. Basic pasta principles and benefits; recipes included.
  • Sunday, September 16: Autumn Braising. Techniques of braising and ideas for using the technique for tough cuts of meat, whole chickens and fruit.
  • Sunday, September 23: Espresso. Essentials of making classic Italian espresso, including using a stovetop espresso maker and automatic espresso machine.
  • Sunday, October 7: Cookie and Cupcake Decorating. Fundamentals of cookie and cupcake decorating including essentials of tracing, flooding, sanding and types of icings. Cookie and icing recipes included.
  • Sunday, October 14: Knife Skills. Learn which knife to use, how to hold it and proper way to slice, dice and chop.
  • Sunday, October 21: Pie Crust Essentials. Techniques and baker’s tips for success, and the tools needed for delicious crusts. Step-by-step instructions.

Class size is limited, and individuals are advised to reserve a space. Call 281.480.1705 for a reservation and also for exact times.

Williams-Sonoma at The Woodlands Mall has also scheduled Cooking Classes for fall. The classes are lead by professionals from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the store kitchen, and the menus for fall emphasis entertaining, including:

  • Monday, September 10: Italian-Style Panini with Casey Simmons. Menu includes Mini Roast Beef and Horseradish Panini Triangles; Proscuitto, Goat Cheese and Peach Panini; Cheddar Cheese Panini; and Cuban Sandwich.
  • Monday, September 17: An Italian-American Dinner with Casey Simmons. Evening’s recipe demonstrations include highlighting Fresh Tomato Toasts, Caesar Salad, Spaghetti and Meatballs and Tiramisu.
  • Monday, September 24: An Autumn Dinner Party with Casey Simmons. Menu includes Rosemary-Sage Pork Tenderloin with Pancetta and Maple-Pecan Pie.

Classes cost $40 per class per person. Pre-payment required to reserve class space. All class spaces are sold on a first come, first served basis. To register, call 281.298.6915 or visit the store. Classes are non-refundable and non-transferable within the last 48 hours prior to the class.
