TCID moving January 12, 2004
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (December 29, 2003) -- Town Center Improvement District (TCID) will commemorate 10 years of public service to The Woodlands and Montgomery County in a new location beginning January 12, 2004.
TCID is moving to the Waterway II building at 10001 Woodloch Forest Place, Suite 600, in The Woodlands Town Center. The District's phone number and web site will stay the same at 281-363-2447 and www.town-center.com, respectively.
With its first employee in 1994, Town Center Improvement District (TCID) of Montgomery County was created in 1993 by the Texas Legislature as a local governmental agency whose mission is to promote, develop, encourage and maintain economic development for the public benefit of The Woodlands downtown area.
"TCID looks forward to providing enhanced services from its new location through its public safety, economic development and business promotion initiatives," said TCID President Frank W. Robinson. "The move will allow for the expansion of programs and additional space for the District's public meetings."
The District's primary programs include public safety, economic development and business promotion of the area.
TCID's funding in special partnerships with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Constable's Office, local cities of Oak Ridge North and Shenandoah, and other entities has resulted in one of the lowest crime rates of any commercial district in the country. Today, TCID's crime rate is less than two times the national average, according to CapRisk, a leading standard on crime statistics. In addition, the District funds the Alpha & Omega Royal Courtesy Mounted Patrol, the friendly riders on horseback, who work on the same radio channel as local law enforcement agencies and The Woodlands Fire Department.
In 2004, TCID is expected to launch its Ambassador Program in The Woodlands Town Center. The Ambassadors program is a good-will initiative also serving in a public safety capacity.
The District has assisted in creating more than 6,000 jobs in the area through its Economic Development programs over the years, including initial support of the South Montgomery County Economic Development Partnership.
One major initiative was the funding of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Convention Center, which opened in December 2002. The District has also assisted with the expansion of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Mall and Market Street, expected to open in 2004.
"TCID is dedicated to helping accommodate growth and its issues in the best possible way to reap the most benefits," Robinson said. "This organization is a partner in a very exciting undertaking -- helping to build a new "downtown" in The Woodlands and making it a viable, productive and long-lasting attribute for our community."
