Boogie to beethoven gala raises more than $400,000 for The Pavilion’s endowment campaign

The Woodlands, TX – Party-goers danced the night away at the Boogie to Beethoven fund-raising gala held Feb. 9 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The event raised more than $400,000 for the Endowment Campaign for The Center for Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

“Boogie to Beethoven was an exciting and entertaining event. The gala was also very successful financially and the funds raised will go into our endowment to ensure the longevity of The Pavilion,” said Jerry McDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. “This event was an important part of the future of The Pavilion. The Pavilion board of directors played a huge role in its success.”

One of the highlights of the evening was a drawing to determine the winner of the 2006 Paramount-Matador chopper – a bike worth $34,995 – seen at various concerts this past season. Donated by American Dream Cycles, the bike was autographed by the builder and the members of ZZ Top. Darren Breaux was the lucky winner of the motorcycle.

The evening’s entertainment featured KC & The Sunshine Band and comedian Judson Laipply, creator of “The Evolution of the Dance.” Dancers from Fred Astaire Dance Studio – The Woodlands tore up the dance floor to disco music as guests were ushered into the ballroom.

Other highlights of the evening included a live auction, “best dressed” contest and dance contest. The live auction featured items including autographed guitars, a golf trip to Scotland, large dinners featuring celebrity chefs, vacation trips to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the Kentucky Derby and more. Winners of the best dressed couple were Teresa and Lamar Roemer. The “best dressed” table award went to the table purchased by WSMC – Brian Chimenti, MD & Lahiri Plastic Surgery/Surgical Groups of The Woodlands – James Field, MD. Winners of the dance contest were Peter and Yvette Pintar.

Co-hosts for the gala were Betty and Ronald Pugh and Catherine and George Lindahl.
