Disco Fever Rages at The Pavilion Partners Fund-Raiser Aug. 11

Fans of KC & The Sunshine Band “Get Down” with a pre-concert dinner and auction

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Board of Directors and The Pavilion Partners, the official volunteer organization of The Pavilion, host a “groovy” pre-concert fund-raiser prior to KC’s Boogie Blast Aug. 11. KC & The Sunshine Band shares the stage for this nostalgic concert featuring other disco-era legends Gloria Gaynor, Sister Sledge and Tavares. The fund-raiser is from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. in The Pavilion’s Event Tent. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. Don’t forget your “Boogie Shoes!”

Fans will “Shake Their Booty” at this fabulous flashback event. Tickets to the “funky” party are $200 each and include dinner before the show, covered reserved seating for the concert and VIP parking. Tickets for the dinner only (without concert and parking) are available for $95. Also available are tables for eight that are $1,600 and include signage, four VIP parking tickets, dinner for eight and eight VIP concert tickets.

Some of the exclusive auction items include backstage Meet & Greets with the bands, a signed Roger Clemens Astros jersey and baseball, a vacation package to Aruba with airfare, a vacation package to Puerto Vallarta with airfare, concert, theater and hotel packages and more. Proceeds from the fund-raiser benefit the educational outreach programs of The Pavilion, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. These educational programs include Fine Arts Education Day, Musical Scores, Children’s Festival and more.

KC & The Sunshine Band, known for hits like “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Shake Your Booty” and “Boogie Shoes,” is still as widely popular today as they were when they first danced into the music scene 30 years ago. With sales of more than 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, KC & The Sunshine Band was one of the most progressive bands of the 70s and is credited with changing the sound of modern pop music!

The Pavilion Partners, launched in 1998, is an important part of The Pavilion and its many educational programs. Partners supports The Pavilion through fund-raising for the performing arts and educational outreach programs, as well as awarding fine arts scholarships each spring. In addition to their fund-raising efforts, The Pavilion Partners provides event volunteers for performances and programs at The Pavilion throughout the year.
