The 2007 Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala’s Entertaining and Inspiring Program is Announced
“A Hero’s Journey” perfectly describes this year’s The Woodlands Celebration of Excellence Gala honoring the 2007 Hometown Heroes. One of Newsweek Magazine’s “America’s Unsung Heroes” Tom Whittaker will present the entertaining and inspirational keynote speech and news anchor Art Rascon from KTRK-TV 13 Eyewitness News, the Houston affiliate of ABC, has agreed to serve as master of ceremonies.
“In keeping with the heart of this occasion, the community will gather to honor the Hometown Heroes and Mr. Tom Whittaker, the first person with a disability to climb to the summit of Mount Everest, will deliver his compelling story,” expressed Dr. Ann Snyder, Executive Director of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “I truly believe that his story is sure to remind us all that persistence and belief in a goal can lead to a life of remarkable achievement.”
Also, the evening will consist of an impressive live and silent auction. “Both auctions will provide an opportunity for people to place bids on fantastic items such as a diamond ring, a mink coat, and a painting by artist Kevin Sloan,” said Snyder.
Concluding the night, the popular Houston band, Twist and Shout will provide an evening of classical Rock and Roll with a little Motown entertainment for the audience to enjoy.
The celebration will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. Co-Presidents of The Woodlands Development Company, Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes, are the Honorary Co-Chairs for the event.
All proceeds from the gala will help support Interfaith of The Woodlands’ Social Service programs.
