THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- June 20, 2008 – Town Center Theatre, Montgomery County’s first professional theater company, announced today that it will be partnering with Interfaith of The Woodlands to hold a food drive during performances of its summer musical Godspell, which runs July 11 – Aug. 3, 2008, at The Woodlands College Park High School Auditorium, located at 3701 College Park Drive.
“Interfaith’s Food Pantry feeds more than 9,600 individuals a year in the Montgomery County area, and because the summer months are when Interfaith is most busy, now is the perfect time for us to hold a food drive and help alleviate hunger in the South Montgomery County area,” said Managing Director Aaron Stryk. “Plus, because our next show is Godspell, which is based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, it is only fitting for us to follow the teachings of the Lord by helping others.”
Audience members who bring a can or bag of non-perishable food to any performance of Godspell will receive an automatic $5 off the price of admission. These goods will be donated to the Interfaith Food Pantry at the end of the run. Some of the current Food Pantry needs right now include pasta, dry beans, canned chicken or turkey, baking goods, peanut butter, dry soups, toiletry items, and laundry soap. For a full list of Food Pantry needs, go to www.woodlandsinterfaith.org.
In addition, donations can also be dropped off directly at the Interfaith Food Pantry, located at 4242 Woodrush Drive. Just let the staff members know that you are donating on behalf of Town Center Theatre and they will present you with a coupon good for $5 off the price of a Godspell performance (limit one coupon per donation). “It’s a part of our mission to use theater to enrich the community around us, and these donations are a wonderful opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on one of our most valuable county institutions,” Stryk said.
Godspell runs from July 11 through August 3, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available at $25 for regular patrons, $20 for seniors age 55 and over; and $15 for students. For groups of 10 or more, all tickets are $15. To make your reservation, call (832) 592-9697, Ext. 2.
