THE WOODLANDS TOWN CENTER TROLLEYS DEBUT JULY 4
Beginning July 4, the much-anticipated Town Center Trolleys will be ready to board passengers with free service for the 10th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza in The Woodlands Town Center, as a new way for festival-goers to reach Town Green Park.
Riders can hop on one of two, air-conditioned trolleys at the following stops from 2 – 8:30 pm on July 4: Town Green Park; the Pavilion North Entrance; Lake Robbins Drive at The Cheesecake Factory; Tinseltown; and Central Park at Market Street.
A third trolley will begin operating on July 5, when service runs daily from 10 am – 8 pm. Regular stops will be made at the Community Center/South Montgomery County Library; Town Green Park; Central Park at Market Street; the South Entrance to The Woodlands Mall; and Woodloch Forest Drive at Ring Road. Trolleys will operate along The Woodlands Waterway with stops at Landry’s and Anadarko as well as Woodloch Forest Drive at the Waterway bridge; Waterway Avenue; Marriott South entrance along the Waterway and the South Pavilion exit along the Waterway.
The 35-passenger trolleys, each ADA compliant with windows that can be rolled up or down, will make their regular, dedicated stops, however they also will make stops for pedestrians along the route.
The trolleys are a two-year pilot project made possible by a partnership between Town Center Improvement District and the Houston-Galveston Area Council. The Council is a voluntary association of local governments and local elected officials in the 13-county Gulf Coast Planning Region. At the end of the two-year period, organizers will assess ridership data.
“We’re anticipating a strong response from the community,” says Stephen P. Sumner, Sr., vice president of operations & public safety for Town Center Improvement District. “We’d certainly like to add to the fleet down the road.”
Nick Wolda, vice president of marketing and public affairs for Town Center Improvement District adds, “The trolleys give the Town Center another unique selling point, in addition to providing an effective mode of transportation for those who work, live and visit the area.”
