Red, Hot & Blue Festival in The Woodlands Town Center
among the largest in Greater Houston
THE WOODLANDS, Texas (June 8, 2004) - One of Greater Houston area's largest Fourth of July celebrations will take place July 4, 2004 in The Woodlands Town Center at the 7th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Munday Chevrolet and Munday Mazda.
The event will be held on Sunday, July 4, 2004 on The Woodlands Waterway from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. "The Red, Hot and Blue Festival and fireworks are part of an overall outstanding lineup of Fourth of July activities in The Woodlands Town Center," said Nick Wolda, Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs for Town Center Improvement District (TCID). "Clearly, the Town Center is becoming a favorite destination with Fourth of July activities."
The weekend also includes a Fourth of July Parade on Saturday morning, July 3, 2004, and the Star Spangled Salute, a free patriotic concert with the Houston Symphony at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on Saturday night, July 3, 2004.
The Red, Hot & Blue Festival continues to be a main attraction celebrating Fourth of July activities and this year will feature expanded hours, a new location and one of the largest fireworks shows in Texas. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. at its new site on The Woodlands Waterway, adjacent to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. With a tropical theme, The Woodlands Waterway will be transformed into a tropical paradise, complete with thatched huts and Sand Mist Islands to cool off.
"We're excited to hold The Red, Hot and Blue Festival at a new location on The Woodlands Waterway," said Cindy Bryson, Event Manager for TCID. "We look forward to a patriotic and fun event."
Admission to The Festival is free and will feature music, food and activities for the kids. New this year is "Kiddie Land," a picket fenced area with a sandbox and room for young children to play safely. Adults and children alike will enjoy the wide variety of food and beverages available along The Waterway including, but not limited to, Guadalajara's Mexican Restaurant, T.G.I. Friday's, Rockfish, Fleming's Steakhouse, Sonic, plus all-American fare of hamburgers and hot dogs.
Local bands will entertain the crowds throughout the day, including music from Kelly McGuire, an Island Country band; Garcia & Reyna, a Flamingo Jazz band; Savvy, a variety band; Ramn Torres & Max Cat, a variety band; Texas Brass Band, a big brass and patriotic band; and Nobody's Fool, a high energy variety band.
As Texas Brass Band softly plays taps, look to the sky at 7:00 p.m. as Wings Over Houston performs a military fly-over, presented by Bank of America and St. Luke's Community Medical Center The Woodlands. Vintage World War II planes will sweep over The Festival site in the Missing Man Formation as a tribute to the fallen soldiers from past and present wars.
At 9:15 p.m., grab a front-row seat as a one-of-a-kind Fireworks Extravaganza shoots off of the Anadarko garage and Timberloch Place near Woodloch Forest. This intense 20 minute fireworks show, sponsored by City of Oak Ridge North, City of Shenandoah, The Woodlands Operating Company, Coca-Cola, Silver Eagle Distributor, Kroger, HEB, Harley Davidson, Concrete Contractors and Landry's Seafood House, will be simulcast on Sunny 99.1.
As The Festival concludes, listen to Nobody's Fool on the main stage. The Festival's daylong celebration of America's Independence officially ends at 10:00 p.m.
