Free Houston Symphony Clarinet Workshop by Principal Clarinet, David Peck
Friday, May 13, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, will host a free Houston Symphony clarinet workshop this Friday at 6:00 p.m. as part of its Music in Motion education outreach program. This clinic is designed for students to receive instruction in an intimate setting from David Peck, principal clarinet. During the workshop, students will receive tips on posture, breathing and embouchure, as well as reading through Weber’s Concertino in E-flat major for Clarinet and Orchestra, Opus 26, which the Houston Symphony will perform during their program that evening. Sheet music will be provided by the symphony.
Peck has been with the Houston Symphony for more than 25 years and has taught at the University of Houston and Rice University’s Shephard School of Music. Currently, in keeping with his love of teaching, he maintains a private studio in Houston.
Band and orchestra students in grades 7 - 12 from Conroe ISD, Spring ISD and area private schools have been invited to participate in this workshop. It is not open to the general public. For more information, call 281-210-1113.
