Houston Symphony Performs for Conroe ISD Fourth Graders

The Woodlands, TX – The Center for the Performing Arts at The Woodlands, home of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, hosts approximately 4,000 fourth graders from Conroe Independent School District for Fine Arts Education Day May 28 at 10:30 a.m.  This program is designed to introduce CISD fourth graders to orchestral music and the various instruments in band and orchestra.

For the first time ever, this event features the Houston Symphony as part of its David Dewhurst Symphony Explorer Concerts, curriculum-focused programming that examines orchestral music as it relates to the world. This year’s program, Coming to America led by Brett Mitchell, demonstrates how immigration has helped shape the United States of America.  Not only did new arrivals to our country bring their language, traditions and everyday culture—they brought their music!  Hear selections by Bernstein, Dvořák, Stravinsky, Williams and other great composers.

Fine Arts Education Day is a FREE program produced by The Pavilion in conjunction with CISD and the Houston Symphony.
