On Thanksgiving Day, The Woodlands Mall is closed and shoppers in north Houston will be feasting on turkey and catching up on football. But bright and early on Friday, November 23, the day after Thanksgiving, it’s time for Blitz @ 6 where shoppers will find special discounts and offers – including mall giveaways that include mall gift cards and a Nintendo Wii.

On the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 23, The Woodlands Mall will open at 6:00 a.m. The first 500 shoppers through the North Main entrance next to Talbots will receive goodie bags* full of special discounts and giveaways. Special prizes will be placed randomly in the 500 goodie bags, and
· One lucky early-morning shopper will win a Nintendo Wii from GameStop and Wii Play.
· One lucky early-morning shopper will win a $250 mall gift card.
· More lucky early-morning shoppers will win a $50 mall gift card.

“The Friday after Thanksgiving is when America starts shopping. It’s a fun day, shoppers are busy looking for the most-wanted items, and, of course, looking for special offers. For the first time ever, last year, The Woodlands Mall opened at 6:00 a.m. and our shoppers came out to shop their favorite retailers and scoop up the savings. This year, there’s even more – one shopper will win a Nintendo Wii, and others will take home mall gift cards,” says Andrea Thompson, group vice president for General Growth Properties.

The Woodlands Mall opened at 6:00 a.m. for the first time in 2006 and, based on last year’s success, the shopping center decided to continue the early morning opening. A survey conducted by General Growth Properties, owners of the mall, of 17,000 customers nationwide determined that 64 percent plan to shop on the day after Thanksgiving, with 56 percent hitting the stores before noon. Blitz @ 6 combines early-morning offerings from retailers and a chance to win unexpected holiday bonuses, such as a mall gift card.
