MARKET STREET WELCOMES BREAT CANCER SURVIVOR AT
TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19

THE WOODLANDS, TX (November 10, 2005)…Market Street’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will celebrate much more than the start of the holidays this year, it will celebrate life.

For this reason, Market Street has called upon South Montgomery County resident and breast cancer survivor Rhondi Smith to ceremoniously light the 50-foot Christmas tree in Central Park surrounded by her family and the physicians who treated her. Ms. Smith is scheduled to light the tree at 7:00 pm.

“When we were planning this year’s holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, our thoughts turned to involving someone who would symbolize the spirit of the holiday season. We thought Rhondi and her physicians would be perfect to light our Christmas tree,“ said Jenny Taylor, Activities Coordinator for Market Street.

The tree lighting will be followed by hymns sung by a local choir.

Before the ceremony, the Omni Dance Theater will provide holiday entertainment from 5:30 – 6:15 pm in Central Park. Magic elves will also delight visitors throughout the evening.

The Holiday Horn Trio also takes the stage at 6:15 to entertain visitors with festive holiday music leading up to the Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Located across the street from The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Market Street is bounded by Lake Woodlands Drive, Lake Robbins Drive, Grogan’s Mill Road and Six Pines Drive.
