The Woodlands Mall Hosts Salvation Army Angel Tree
Individuals can adopt an angel Friday, November 18 through Sunday, December 18
THE WOODLANDS, Texas. November 16, 2005 – Beginning Friday, November 18 through Sunday, December 18, The Woodlands Mall will host The Angel Tree, a project of The Salvation Army that shares the gifts of the holiday season with children and seniors in need.
The Angel Tree has been a part of the holiday season at The Woodlands Mall since the shopping center opened in 1994. This year, the angels on the tree hold the wish lists of more than 1,700 children who live in the area or senior citizens who are in area nursing homes.
“Everyone who is helped by the Angel Tree at the mall is from Montgomery County,” said Joanna Robinson, Ms Captain for The Salvation Army - Conroe. “Every day the mall is open, we’re open – seven days a week, volunteers are at the tree. We hope this year will be as successful as last year, and we thank those who volunteers and those who donate items. Please come and adopt an angel from the tree.”
Each angel tag on the tree has the wish list of a child, aged newborn to 13, or a senior citizen who is an area nursing facility. Specific toys, clothing sizes and special requests are listed. Donors choose an angel, purchase items from the list and return the donation to the workers at the Angel Tree. All donations must be received by mall closing time on Sunday, December 18. Gifts are distributed Tuesday, December 22 through Thursday, December 24.
“The Angel Tree adds a dimension to the holiday season that cannot be duplicated. Our shoppers are very generous and very thoughtful. When the gifts are collected, it is truly remarkable to see the generosity and kindness,” said Wendy Ellis, senior marketing manager of The Woodlands Mall. “The Angel Tree truly makes a difference in the lives of others here in Montgomery County, and we are proud to participate.”
The Angel Tree, located in Center Court, is staffed during mall hours. For more information, visit www.thewoodlandsmall.com or call The Salvation Army – Conroe at 936.760.2440.
