ROBERT C. BRUCE APPOINTED MANAGER, RECREATION
FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT FOR THE WOODLANDS DEVELOPMENT COMPANY
THE WOODLANDS, TX – (October 26, 2005) – Robert C. Bruce has been appointed Manager, Recreation Facilities Development for The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC), according to Joel Deretchin, Vice President of Public Affairs for TWDC. Bruce has been a landscape architect and recreational project manager for more than 25 years.
In his new position, Bruce will be responsible for the oversight of park and pathway planning, design and construction in the master-planned community of The Woodlands. Current projects in development include completion of the parks and pathways in the Village of Sterling Ridge and the neighborhood of Grogan’s Forest. The entries, streetscapes and parks in the new neighborhood of East Shore are also underway. In the near future, Bruce will be involved in the development of a 1,700-acre park in the new Village of Creekside Park, along with other recreational amenities in that village.
Most recently, Bruce had his own landscape architecture and planning firm, Robert C. Bruce Design. Prior to that he was Project Manager and Landscape Architect for Colorado State Parks from 1979-2005. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
He holds a bachelor of science degree in park administration and a bachelor of landscape architecture from Texas Tech University.
His wife, Molly, is a second grade teacher in Douglas County, Colorado. They have two grown sons, Travis and Matthew.
The Woodlands is a 28,000-acre master-planned community located 27 miles north of downtown Houston. It is a project of The Woodlands Development Company, a Morgan Stanley and General Growth Properties, Inc. limited partnership.
