Fun, adventure and learning rolled into one big
party at The 11 th Annual Children's Festival

10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12
12 - 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13

The Woodlands, TX - Award-winning children’s performers educate and entertain kids of all ages during the 11 th Annual Children's Festival Nov. 10-13 at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands Town Center. The first two days of the festival, Nov. 10 and 11, are devoted to school field trips. Approximately 10,000 students from schools in eight districts, including numerous private schools, will attend the festival during these two days.

Children's Festival is open to the public Nov. 12 and 13. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. The admission fee includes every show and activity all day long, so parents don’t spend the day dealing with tickets, tokens or endless lines.

What’s it all about?

Children’s Festival features renowned children's performers in a fascinating lineup of music, pantomime, original theater, puppetry, science experiments, humor and award-winning songs. Each artist strives to broaden children’s exposure to the arts while entertaining and incorporating important educational messages into their performances. This non-traditional learning environment stimulates children’s minds while providing an atmosphere that encourages their involvement in many different activities.

About the Performers

Showcasing professional children’s entertainers from the United States and Canada, Children’s Festival is an exciting way to help students, ranging from pre-K to intermediate school, broaden their horizons, tap into their talents, ignite their creativity, appreciate other cultures, and develop a love and appreciation for the performing arts.

Performers at the 11 th Annual Children's Festival include everyone’s favorite 4-year-old Caillou “Live on Stage,” the theatrical production of “There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom” based on the popular children’s novel, The Mammoth Follies, a musical review featuring life-size “dino-puppets,” Lucas Miller, The Singing Zoologist, mask/movement artist Michael Cooper, the high-energy science presentation “Fire and Ice” by Mad Science and the lovable Franklin the Turtle “Live in Concert,” where Franklin and his friends create an adventure together on the Cooper Industries Main Stage . See the attached "Children's Festival Performers" for performance times and more information about each artist or visit http://pavilion.woodlandscenter.org.

On Saturday and Sunday, in addition to performances by these professional entertainers, nationally acclaimed children’s fitness expert and native Houstonian Scott Cole leads several sessions of children's yoga and Tai Chi, while local community groups display their talents on the The Woodlands Town Center Community stage in the Wells Fargo AdventureZone. For performance times, see attached “Children’s Festival Performers” or visit http://pavilion.woodlandscenter.org.

Costumed characters and mascots from Houston’s professional sports teams and local companies also are on hand to roam the grounds and interact with children. Mascots participating in the 11 th Annual Children’s Festival include Wells Fargo’s Jack the Dog, Puffy Pine Cone, official mascot of The Woodlands, Clutch of the Houston Rockets and Haley of the Houston Comets, Katie the Kangaroo from Texas Children’s Hospital and more.

Activities galore!

Also on Saturday and Sunday, the festival features Arts Alley , sponsored by Houston Community Newspapers, where children learn about the elements and principles of art through creative, interactive activities. They learn about lines, colors, shapes, patterns, unity, balance and more by using these elements to make imaginative creations they get to take home with them.

The Activity Tent , sponsored by Waste Management, Inc., features fun, hands-on activities conducted by area businesses and organizations. Activities include hand print banners, rubbing art, weather experiments, an instrument petting zoo, dressing up in costume, bean bag and ring tosses, make-and-take slime and more. For a complete list of participating businesses and each of their activities, visit http://pavilion.woodlandscenter.org .

In the Wells Fargo AdventureZone , children pan for gold and have their faces painted, local community groups perform on The Woodlands Town Center Community Stage, The Pavilion Partners helps kids make one-of-a-kind hats, and everyone can meet and greet their favorite performers. Each day of the festival ends with the Festival Finale Kazoo-Dah Parade, sponsored by Target Stores, that begins and ends in the AdventureZone .
