Four at Town Center Improvement District Earn Professional Designations

Furthering their professional knowledge, four members of the Town Center Improvement District team have recently earned professional designations. Furthering their professional knowledge, four members of the Town Center Improvement District (TCID) team have recently earned professional designations.
Marcy Hicks has earned the Professional in Human Resources ® (PHR ®) designation, and Carolyn Pennell, Taunya Stevenson, Sharon Swaim, have each earned the Certified Professional Secretary ® designation (CPS ®).
Hicks, a graduate of Texas Tech University, joined TCID a year and a half ago year as Human Resources Manager. In her position, she is responsible for functions such as hiring new employees, benefits administration, and maintenance of TCID’s policies and procedures including the employee handbook.
Pennell, who joined TCID in 1999, serves as TCID’s Operations Manager. Her responsibilities include facilities management, capital projects administration, contract administration and compliance, and budget preparation for Operations and General & Administration. In addition, she supervises the Front Desk Assistant and the Operations Assistant.
Stevenson is the executive assistant to Frank W. Robinson, TCID’s President. She joined TCID three years ago and possesses over ten years of experience in working with top management. Her strong sense of detail and organizational abilities have enabled her to enhance team performance.
Swaim, who joined TCID over four years ago, is the Marketing Assistant at TCID and is responsible for assisting the Marketing and Public Affairs Department in promoting TCID as a regional destination. She assists with marketing programs, trade shows and community events. Swaim holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration.
The Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), signifies the possession of the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field. HRCI is the credentialing body for human resource professionals and is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest organization dedicated exclusively to the human resource profession. The Institute's purpose is to promote the establishment of professional standards and to recognize professionals who meet those standards.
The Certified Professional Secretary program and eight months of preparatory classes are offered through the International Association of Administrative Professionals through its Institute for Certification department. Applicants must meet educational and work experience requirements and pass a three-part one-day exam covering Office Systems and Technology, Office Administration, and Management.
