McVaugh Custom Homes has recently broken ground on 4.52 acres for its initial development of Oasis Pointe Condominiums & Townhomes in Southern Coast, a waterfront neighborhood within the community of East Shore in The Woodlands, according to Virgil Yoakum, vice president of residential land sales and development for The Woodlands Development Company.
Southern Coast is an 18-acre tract of land featuring over 2,300 linear feet of water frontage on 200-acre Lake Woodlands that overlooks scenic South Shore Park. “Southern Coast will offer a relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle in the grand, nautical style,” Yoakum said. “Panoramic views of 200-acre Lake Woodlands, a five-minute walk or bike ride to the private East Shore Boat House planned for construction in 2007/2008, and a series of parks and green spaces throughout East Shore provide an urban experience that has been greatly enhanced by surroundings of the precedent architecture of the homes and the urban landscape. Approximately three of the 18 acres will remain green space for the enjoyment of residents.”
McVaugh will build the first condominium building in East Shore containing 18 residences in a three-story building along the waterfront with dramatic views of Lake Woodlands. McVaugh intends to add two more condo buildings, bringing the total to 54 units. McVaugh will also build 56 three-story townhomes, overlooking Rafter’s Row Park, combining urban landscape and a linear water feature.
Condominiums will range in size from approximately 2,000 to 2,300 square feet, and be priced from the high $490’s to the $680’s. The townhomes will range in size from approximately 2,600 to 3,200 square feet and be priced from the upper $590’s to the $730’s. The condominiums were designed by Pappageorge Haymes of Chicago, and the townhomes were designed by Sullivan Stevens Henry of Houston, both in the Southern Coastal Vernacular architectural style. An on-site sales office is now open.
East Shore, the “Garden District” of Town Center, is a pedestrian-scaled, urban community featuring custom homes, townhomes, condominiums and patio homes rendered in Classic American architectural styles. Waterfront garden parks, street trees, ornamental lighting and the private East Shore Boat House will enhance the urbane environment.
The Woodlands is a 28,400-acre master-planned community located 27 miles north of downtown Houston. It is a project of The Woodlands Development Company, a limited partnership of Morgan Stanley and General Growth Properties, Inc.
