TOWN CENTER IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT TO RECEIVE HONORABLE MENTION AT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE

The Woodlands, Texas-Based Organization Recognized for its Annual Report

Acknowledging the Town Center Improvement District (TCID) for its annual report, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) will recognize the The Woodlands, Texas-based organization with an Honorable Mention at IEDC's Annual Conference, which is scheduled to take place in New York City, September 17-20. The organization will be noticed for this achievement during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 19th.

"From localized community projects to large-scale endeavors, activities for the advancement of economic development have an enormous impact on the shoring up of the nation's economy," said Joseph A. Marinucci, IEDC chairman. "As our population grows exponentially and as we continue to overcome unexpected challenges, such as those we are still grappling with in the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged Gulf Coast region, these efforts take on an even greater significance. The acknowledgement serves as a most respectful 'hats off' to economic development organizations like the Town Center Improvement District for leading the charge."

Competing in the category of Annual Report by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, TCID was a clear standout. TCID plays a vital role in the development of The Woodlands Town Center, a 1,000 acre "downtown" in The Woodlands. The purpose of the annual report is to address TCID's various initiatives using high-impact photos, graphic design and the communication of important financial information. TCID's 2004 Annual Report was well received by business leaders and the general public. It quantifies the impact of creating the District through the Texas Legislature and allows others to see the achievements the District has made since its inception.
