The YMCA Offers a Variety of Specialty Camps and Workshops
To Keep your Kids Active, Creative and Happy Throughout the Summer
Looking for summer programs to keep your kids active, happy and creative? Then look to the YMCA for all your summer fun opportunities. The Y offers a variety of programs for all ages including, Sports Camps, Performing Arts Workshops, Gymnastics Workshops, Youth Wellness Camp, and much more.
All YMCA programs promote healthy spirits, minds and bodies and consistently teach Judeo-Christian principles. The Y is a special place where each participant learns values that last a lifetime. Guided by the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith, character development is integral to all YMCA programs. Available to all in the community, the YMCA strives to not turn anyone away because of an inability to pay. Limited financial assistance is available to families that substantiate a need.
Summer Sports Clinics provide kids, ages 3 – 13, the opportunity to learn new skills and improve current skills. Each session is unique and dynamic with a different sport and drills introduced weekly. The weekly sessions begin June 4.  Most Sports Clinic sessions run 3 hours daily, Monday - Thursday. Clinics include Tennis, Cheerleading, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, and Football. For the pre-schoolers, Tiny Tots Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball and Y World of Sports is available. Tiny Tot clinics meet for 90 minutes.
Summer Sports Clinics at Oak Ridge North Park: The YMCA will be offering weekly sports clinics in the evening at the City Park in Oak Ridge North expanding its programs and activities to the communities located on the east side of I-45. For ages 3 – 13, the clinics will begin at 6pm. Sports offered will include soccer, baseball, flag football and cheerleading.  Tiny Tot Clinics, for ages 3 – 5, will include soccer and t-ball. The weekly clinics begin June 4th.
Youth Wellness Camp: For ages 7 – 15, the YMCA is introducing a weekly summer camp wellness program that focuses on physical conditioning and weight management specifically designed for youth. Participants will work towards improving fitness and a healthy body image through daily scheduled physical activity and daily learning modules. Campers will participate in three daily rotations including walk-to-run, strength training and swimming. The new wellness camp will meet Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 1:00pm beginning June 4th.
Performing Arts Workshops: The summer program is comprised of unique weekly workshops that brings out a child’s creative personality. All students are involved in acting, dancing, singing, props and costuming in a team environment.  The workshops meet Monday – Friday, 1:30 – 4:30pm for students K – 12th grade. Each workshop will focus on a different musical production with a live performance every Friday including Beatles Week, Michael Jackson Week, High School Musical 1,2 and 3, Grease, Beach Week, Taylor Swift Week and Justin Bieber Week. The YMCA also has summer ballet classes for ages 2 – 8.
Gymnastics Workshops: For ages 3 – 10, our gymnastic workshops are offered in 2 week sessions. The 45 minute class meets Monday – Thursday, beginning June 4. The workshops are for beginners, Level 1 and Level 2. Students will learn basic gymnastic skills on the floor, balance beam, bar and spring board.
In addition to these specialty camps and workshops, the YMCA also has a fabulous Summer Day Camp program for ages 5 – 12 and Teen Camp Program for ages 13 – 15. Care is available 7:00am – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday. Weekly sessions begin June 4 at the Creekside YMCA Outdoor Adventure Center.
